WASHINGTON (September 2, 2020) – The Propane Education & Research Council released a new online resource showcasing how builders can optimize a home’s energy design to meet code and above-code recognition programs with propane technologies.

The free, downloadable resource details how incorporating high-efficiency propane appliances, including furnaces and water heaters, can play a key role in helping builders meet IECC and Energy Star standards, LEED for Homes, and National Green Building Standard certification. The fact sheet also includes information on IECC compliances and HERS Index ratings.

“Energy efficiency is a driving force in the construction industry right now and this resource introduces a clean, efficient solution for builders: propane,” said Bryan Cordill, director of residential and commercial business development at PERC. “Propane offers key advantages compared with other energy sources, helping builders attain the high levels of performance and efficiency required by many of these programs.”

Propane appliances can help make a new home eligible for a Federal builder tax credit, too. Builders may qualify for incentives through state propane gas associations, utilities, and state energy programs.
